The USDA Experience

What do you do at USDA?
"I'm in charge of processing damage/short claims for transportation of dry milk products in the United States."

What is a typical day like at USDA?
"Lots and lots of claims and paperwork, the work doesn't stop. It's Very dynamic and fun. You have to call the warehouses for follow-up on the claims, send faxes, e-mails and send the claims by regular mail."

What is your favorite thing about working at USDA?

"The people are really nice and they care about all my concerns and needs as an intern. They really rock!"

What is most challenging about your job?

"The analysis of the claims. Because every claim is different, you have to be very aware on no commit any mistakes because you are sending this guys a bill for several amounts of dollar. You don't want to take any chances against those warehouses or transportation companies. It's a very serious work."

What is the best experience you've had while interning at USDA?
"The Mentoring Program. It's the best mentoring program I ever participated in my life. Also, my mentor, Mr. Brad Raush, he rocks! He does not only take care of me in the job, but also outside the work environment. He took me to the Nascar Races, Baseball Games, Camping, and Concerts. Also, this mentoring program is very good. It gives you the opportunity to participate in seminars, team-building activities, field trips related to your work. In addition, this program gives you the opportunity to build up your knowledge about how you work affects your surrounding people. Thanks for the opportunity!"
